About Depression
I ever heard about the impact of clinical depression while it still astonished me largely when one of my best friends committed suicide last year. None of us was aware of her mental change. The rollercoaster of depression not only tortured her but also pushed her to face the outer world individually. Thus, when a perfume brand asked me to draw a paper-cutting book, I chose this topic to create a story and illustrations in memory of my friend, which, what’s more, encourages those who have the same feeling with my friend should believe, regardless, someone in the world will find them, understand them and be with them.

One day, Leaf noticed that he could not see colors. In his eyes, the spring flower, the summer cicada, the autumn pine cone, the winter snow had become black and white since then. He felt uneasy and scary. Every night, he made a wish to see colors again. However, when the first light of sunshine wrapped him up, the world was still black and white after he woke up. Leaf told his best friends if he got sick. The indifference penetrating through their eyes transformed into bleak wind, almost blowing Leaf away. He was tired enough to leave.
